Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas gang! I hope it has been the best one ever for you. We spent Christmas morning at home. My sister and her family always come for breakfast. It was a great time. The inlaws dropped in for a bit and we visited with them. Christmas night we went with some friends to their parent's house for dinner. It was a fabulous day of family, friends, food (what little I could eat!) and just celebrating the birth of Jesus with those who mean so much to us. At our friend's gathering we even had a birthday cake and sang Happy Birthday! It was cool. Enjoy the rest of your time off! Check in here every now and then. You never know what you'll find.

Greetings from Disney

Hey gang! Internet has been sparse here in paradise. Sorry I've been away so long. We've had a great week. We spent a day each at Animal Kingdom, MGM, Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Angie and I even escaped the fam for a bit and ran over to Cocoa Beach for some quiet time together. (How romantic - time on the pier enjoying the view of the Atlantic, a walk on the beach, and dinner at a great seafood restaurant on the beach, outside in the warm evening air.) The parks are cool. It's been fun being with the whole crew, but that afternoon/evening with Angie was special.

Tonight we saw the Reflections of Earth fireworks, jumbotron, laser light music extravaganza at Epcot. Those of you who have been here know how cool it is. WOW!!! For the Christmas season they added a second finale and it was WAY over the top awesome. Seth squealed and jumped up and down. The kids all cheered and the adults all cried. It was VERY Disney - top notch and incredible.

We're having breakfast with all the Disney characters in the morning - oh boy - taking one for the team there. Then Angie and I are taking Mary and her family to the beach for the day. I'll be home Sunday. More news tomorrow though - maybe even a video clip.

I miss you guys. Love ya!

I'm sorry to report it's been sunny and 80 degrees here every single day!

Wow! What A Concert!!!

You guys blew me away! Fantastic job!! I received so many great compliments on you yesterday. Even after we left, as I saw folks in town, they were raving about the fabulous job you did. Your performance was tremendous. Your behavior was wonderful. I'm so proud of you. You even looked great!

I'm looking forward to wrapping up this semester and heading home for the break. We will be working this week on reading some new music, working all region tryout music (tryouts are just a couple of weeks after we come back!), and recording some stuff. We have a great Spring planned with the trip to Dallas, the great music we're going to be playing, and many other events.

Please make plans to attend the jazz concert at H2O on Thursday. The jazz groups will be presenting their program in a little different way. It's going to be funn. Show starts at 7:00.

Again - CONGRATULATIONS!! I'm VERY proud of you!

Merry Christmas

Calendar Reminders

Good morning! I hope all is well for you! I just wanted to update you on the next several days as we move toward the end of the semester. Saturday, Dec. 2 is the Christmas Parade. We will wear Santa hats, red sweatshirts, jeans that are blue and have no holes, rips or tears in them, (Parents help us with this. Last jean event we had some shabby looking stuff.), and tennis shoes. Call time Saturday is 9:00 a.m. at the FBC Gym.

The Christmas Concert is Sunday, December 10 at 2:00 p.m. at FBC Lavaca. Call time for the HS Band will be 1:00 p.m. Dress is shirt, tie, khakis or dress pants and dress shoes for the guys. Ladies will wear dresses, skirts, or pant suits- remember you have to be able to sit like a musician! Call time for the concert will be 1:00. We will have to tear down and reset the stage immediately afterward for the evening church service. Everyone will be staying to help do that.

You should be well on your way in your Region Tryout prep. If you need anything for that please let us know.

We need to push hard the next couple of weeks to finish a great semester strongly! We will meet sectionals and early band all this week and next. We will be done with those after the the concert and they won't resume until after the break. The week following the concert we will be doing some recording in the band room, so be prepared and ready for that. In addition to getting clean recordings of the concert music, we will be recording the Star Spangled Banner.

If you have any questions about any of the above events, please be sure to ask early. Nothing on this list is new. This is only a calendar update. Have an awesome week.

Modification to the Fitness Program

In an effort to continue to assist in building the overall health of the band and increase rehearsal productivity, the following modification will be made to the Clockwatchers Fitness Program.

Effective immediately: Any bandmember who is habitually tardy, meaning a bandmember who accumulates more than 3 tardies, the incentive for timeliness will begin doubling. This means upon the fourth tardy, the band member has earned 6 laps. On the fifth - twelve, etc.

There has been marked improvement in the timeliness of the band in the past week, but there are still a few individuals who are lagging behind in their progress. We hope this will encourage them to make more progress in becoming the healthiest band members possible, thereby gaining the ability to wake up earlier and arrive on time for band.

Have an awesome day!!!

We will go eat and report to Mayo-Thompson Stadium at Northside for the first band of the day. We will perform around 4:15. You will be watching bands all day and all evening. You may NOT check out early. All band members will stay for the entire evening including the guest performance by the 325 member Razorback Band. We will return home around 10:00 that night.

PERCUSSION, GUARD - Don't forget Saturday at NOON

Hey gang. Don't forget required percussion and guard meeting at noon on Saturday. We'll be getting things ready for Monday. Special thanks to the crew who helped out this week to get a lot of things done - Tracie, Christy, AJ M., Boyett, Pat, Emmy, Seth- I think that's it. If I left anybody out - sorry!! Let me know and I'll put you in!

Anybody who wants to come Saturday is welcome - we can use all the help we can get! Cool things are ahead. Adventure awaits! C ya Saturday. I'll be on the road W-Fri so if you have a question that needs a quick answer call my cell rather than posting. I'll check this each night when I get in. It may be late though.

BAND STARTS AUGUST 7TH AT 8:00 A.M.

It will be a blast. Bring water, wear sunglasses, cool and loose clothing, good tennis shoes - NO SANDALS, flip flops or thongs (the foot kind!! ha) . Be prepared to sweat. Remember wear purple and blue stuff on the first day. Bring a lyre and a flip and your instrument.

Great response so far. Let me hear from you.

Hey gang. I've had lots of calls and one comment to the blog today. Let me hear from you. I still need help for the first of the week, and I'd love to know if this thing is going to be a good way to communicate. If you're looking at it, post a comment. It'll come to my email, then I'll throw it up there for all to read! Peace! c

Update

Good morning. I'm guessing if you're seeing this that you got your letter. As you can see the tunes aren't up here yet. That's b/c I have hit a snag in posting them. Hopefully I'll get over that this weekend. I may end up posting them elsewhere and linking to them. I'll let you know ASAP. I'll be at the band room working Monday and Tuesday all day to get ready. Lots to do - uniforms, equipment, set up, etc. If you can help any, all or sometime, send me a message or call my cell and let me know.
